Assistant Accountant

Your work environment : 

We are currently looking for our future Assistant Accountant, reporting directly to SSC Manager Italy, Greece.   The position reports to SSC Italy and will be based in Thessaloniki with occasional travelling to Parma.

Your mission in SONOCO

Key responsibilities:

• Cooperates with Italian SSC departments (Account receivable, Account payables and Treasury department) and follow European Shared Service Centre procedures.
• Booking GL entries (adjustments), update records of Greek statutory Books
• Participates in Stocks evaluation through actual costing calculation.

• Formulates and controls the accounting practices to ensure proper monitoring and representation of its transactions, the compiling of monthly & annual filings to the tax authorities in coordination with the External Senior Accountant
  • VAT returns,
  • Withholding Taxes (on salaries, free lancers’ fees, Contactors etc) as well as stamp duties and other taxes,
  • Company Income Tax Return, 
  • Tax fillings, as company real property (ENFIA)
• Review and control any deviation with My Data -AADE
• Prepares other Financial Reports as required by various national public authorities  (BoG, Greek Statistic Service etc) or by the Group

• Participates in monthly & quarterly reporting within his/her area of responsibility
• Participates in the preparation of Annual Financial statements
• Serves administrative & tax audits in cooperation with the External Senior Accountant 

• Communicates with public authorities when required

 
About you

We’d love to hear from you if:

• You have a university degree in Finance and/or Accounting
• You are proficient in applying/ reporting Greek Accounting Standards
• You have at least 3 years of experience in a relative position at a medium/large enterprise with well-organized financial & accounting services
• Proficient in drafting and communicating effectively in English, both orally and in writing.  Knowledge of Italian is a plus
• Proficient in using computer applications – mainly MS Office, ERP
• You take initiatives,
• You are target and result oriented, highly organised, with analytical thinking
• You are a Team player
• You can manage tasks within deadlines
• You have fulfilled military service (in case of male)
